Āhua Recovery Size Guide
Āhua Recovery is designed for firmer, more structured support than our everyday Core collection. Use the guide below to choose a fit that feels supportive, secure and comfortable on your tinana.
⚠️ Important Recovery Fit Note Recovery styles are firmer and less stretchy than everyday shapewear. If you are between sizes, or carry more through your puku, hips or lower tinana, we recommend choosing the larger size for comfort.
📏 How to Choose Your Size
Start with your usual NZ clothing size, then check your body measurements for the most accurate fit.
| Āhua Size | Approx. NZ Size |
|---|---|
| S/M | 10–12 |
| L/XL | 14–16 |
| 2XL/3XL | 18–20 |
| 4XL/5XL | 22–24 |
- Use the Recovery Size Chart as your main guide.
- If you are between sizes, choose the larger size.
- If your waist and hips fall into different sizes, follow your hip measurement.
- Clothing sizes vary by brand, so body measurements provide the best guide.
📐 How to Measure
- Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
- Waist: Measure around your puku where you naturally carry your shape. Keep the tape level and firm, not tight.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and lower tinana with your feet together.
Measure directly against your body or over light clothing. Do not pull the measuring tape tightly.
✨ Your First Wear
- Make sure your skin is dry before putting your Recovery garment on.
- Step into the garment and work it gradually up your thighs in small sections.
- Ease it carefully over your hips and puku rather than pulling from the top edge.
- Fasten or adjust the garment slowly, making sure the fabric sits smoothly.
- Allow the garment a few moments to warm and settle against your body.
Recovery support should feel firm and secure, never painful, numb or difficult to breathe in.
📋 Recovery Size Chart
For the best fit, use your body measurements in centimetres. If you are between sizes, choose the larger size.
| Āhua Size | Approx. NZ Size | Waist (cm) | Hips (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| S/M | 10–12 | 90–105 | 115–130 |
| L/XL | 14–16 | 105–120 | 130–145 |
| 2XL/3XL | 18–20 | 120–135 | 145–160 |
| 4XL/5XL | 22–24 | 135–150 | 160–175 |
Recovery styles are firmer and less stretchy than Āhua Core. If your waist and hips fall into different sizes, choose the size that matches your hips for the most comfortable fit.
❤️ Is Recovery Right for Me?
Āhua Recovery is best suited to wāhine looking for firmer, more structured support than everyday shapewear.
- Firmer shaping and support through the puku and lower tinana.
- A more structured feel than the Āhua Core collection.
- Suitable for customers who prefer secure, close-fitting support.
If you are wearing compression following a procedure, always follow the advice of your qualified healthcare professional.
❓ Between Sizes?
- Choose the larger size for greater comfort and an easier pull-on fit.
- If you carry more through your puku or hips, size up.
- If your waist and hip measurements differ, follow your hip measurement.
- Do not size down simply to create stronger compression.
🤍 Final Reminder
Every tinana carries shape differently. Your Recovery garment should feel firm, smooth and secure while still allowing you to breathe, sit and move comfortably.
Firmer does not mean painful. If the garment causes pain, numbness, tingling or breathing difficulty, remove it and reassess the fit.
