Ko Wai Mātou – Who We Are
Āhua Shapewear was born from lived experience — from being a wahine in a body that has changed, grown, carried life, carried stress, and carried strength.
It began in real moments — at the kitchen table, between mahi, whānau life, and late nights — built not just for me, but for my little whānau and the future I’m creating alongside them.
My son, Wiremu, is a daily reminder of why self-worth, confidence, and body acceptance matter. I want him to grow up seeing a mum who backs herself, honours her body, and builds something meaningful with purpose.
And my darling Reuben — my constant support — has stood beside me through the growth, the challenges, and the quiet behind-the-scenes moments it takes to build something from the ground up.
Āhua isn’t about hiding who you are. It’s about honouring your shape.
Our name, Āhua, means form, appearance, shape — and for us, that means embracing your body exactly as it is, right now. Not when you lose weight. Not when you “fix” something. Now.
Āhua was created for curvy, plus-size, postpartum, and everyday wāhine who want to feel supported, comfortable, and confident in their own skin — without shame, squeezing, or pretending.
As a proudly Māori-owned brand based in Aotearoa, Āhua is built on whakapapa, whānau, and purpose. Everything we do is guided by care, intention, and lived reality.
